Cooling Water Scale and Corrosion Inhibitors are chemical compounds that inhibit scale formation in the heat exchangers and prevent corrosion or rusting of heat exchangers at severe water conditions. If it is not treated correctly, a cooling system can rapidly become choked with scale and corrosion products and become a breeding ground for all manner of problematic microbes. The cooling tower itself can become fouled with microbial slime, algal growths and if incorrectly treated can be the cause of legionnaires disease.

Dosage :

A corrosion inhibitor is a chemical compound that, when present in a liquid or gas, decreases the corrosion rates of metals. Fluid composition, quantity of water, and flow regime are some of the factors upon which the effectiveness of a corrosion inhibitor depends. A common mechanism for inhibiting corrosion involves formation of a coating or layer, so that the corrosive substance cannot reach the metal. Corrosion inhibitors are additives to the fluids that surround the metal or related object.

A boiler is a steam generating device which is used to generate steam by applying heat energy to water. It can be said that older steam boilers worked at low to medium pressure. When water is converted to steam it expands in volume over 1,000 times and travels down through steam pipes at over 100 kilometers/hr. As this steam is a great way of moving heat and energy around a site from a central boiler house to where it is needed, but without the right boiler feed water treatment, a steam-raising plant will suffer from scale formation and corrosion.
